History

St Christopher’s School was founded in 1945 by Catherine Grace as private residential Steiner school for children with learning difficulties. The school began with just six pupils and expanded over time to a peak of 50 children and young people.

In 1966, Grace House, was built as a detached teaching block in the centre of the site. The building was designed by local architect, Alec F French and Partners, and aimed to reflect the school’s focus on Steiner education. As outlined above, Grace House was listed in 2019.

In 2016, St Christopher’s was taken over by The Aurora Group however the school permanently closed in March 2020.

FORE Partnership acquired the site in May 2021.
