Grace House

Grace House

Grace House, which sits in the centre of the site, was listed in May 2019. The building is cited as a rare example of a purpose-built post-war educational building designed around the educational and architectural principles of Rudolf Steiner, demonstrating the physical expression of the school’s educational philosophy and the ethos as a Steiner school in its architectural form.

The proposals seek to preserve and enhance Grace House, celebrating the building’s role as a heritage asset by placing it at the very heart of the proposed development.

It is intended that Grace House will become a thriving club comprising a wide variety of residents’ facilities such as the café/bistro, residents lounge and activity rooms. It will facilitate delivery of many of our social impact and community programmes. The exact mix of facilities is still yet to be determined, and we are keen to hear from local residents what they feel should be included as part of our plans.

Grace House will also provide a gateway to the proposed wellbeing facilities which will include a hydrotherapy pool, gym and exercise rooms. The proposed gym will be based on the Helsinki model, which includes equipment designed to maintain and improve strength and mobility at smaller weight increments compared to traditional gym equipment.
